Sioux Falls is basically a blockbuster town. We usually only get the big films — maybe something outside-the-box if there’s sufficient Oscar buzz come January, but that’s about it.
Thankfully, Cinema Falls has been working the underground festival circuit, bringing one-off screenings to spots like the Icon Lounge (RIP) and the Orpheum for a few years now.
With Covid still in the air, starting back up has been weird, but they found a solution: socially distanced screenings at the now beer ‘n wine friendly West Mall 7. They’re doing a film each week at 4:30, well past quitting time for the work-from-home set.
Last week they featured a new dramedy from Bill Murray and Rashida Jones, On The Rocks. This week it’s The Donut King, a fun & critically-acclaimed documentary on the Cambodian refugee that took over the LA donut scene. Who knew that was a thing?
Seats are reserved, so be sure to snag your tickets online. We’ll be grabbing a glass and stopping by soon. See you there!
