More Pizza From the Bread ‘n Circus Crew!

PIzza Cheeks
so what’s up with the name? stay-tuned… we’ll find out!

We aren’t one to complain about the ever-expanding food options around town. (Trust us, Covid-15 is a thing!) But a little more pizza is definitely in order.

Shout-outs to Boss’s and a few other local spots of course, but if you’ve lived anywhere back East, you’ve probably been a little disappointed by our chain restaurant dominated pizza scene.

So here’s one we’re excited to try: The guys from Bread ‘n Circus – purveyors of fantastic sandwiches and one of the most underrated sources of a good IPA – are opening up a by-the-slice pizza joint on Phillips alongside the upcoming Hello Hi tiki bar.

Will it be like NYC? Who cares. If these guys are behind it, it’s gotta be good!

Mayor Says No Mask Mandate, But C’mon!

paul tenhaken mask
yeah, I wear one, but you can’t make me!

Hey guys, writing a blog encouraging all y’all to get out and see what Sioux Falls has to offer has gotten pretty weird. Can’t we all agree to do our part to help things get back to normal? Like you know, where a dang mask! It’s easy! They’re cheap! They can even look kinda cool. (Head over to Etsy and search “mask” along with your favorite band or team or whatever floats your boat.)

So why can’t our mayor get behind it? We don’t know.

Prove him wrong: Masks are ok with Sioux Falls!

Or prove him right: We don’t need a mandate to do the right thing!

Either way, just do it!

Indie Flick Happy Hour from Cinema Falls

Sioux Falls is basically a blockbuster town. We usually only get the big films — maybe something outside-the-box if there’s sufficient Oscar buzz come January, but that’s about it.

Thankfully, Cinema Falls has been working the underground festival circuit, bringing one-off screenings to spots like the Icon Lounge (RIP) and the Orpheum for a few years now.

With Covid still in the air, starting back up has been weird, but they found a solution: socially distanced screenings at the now beer ‘n wine friendly West Mall 7. They’re doing a film each week at 4:30, well past quitting time for the work-from-home set.

Last week they featured a new dramedy from Bill Murray and Rashida Jones, On The Rocks. This week it’s The Donut King, a fun & critically-acclaimed documentary on the Cambodian refugee that took over the LA donut scene. Who knew that was a thing?

Seats are reserved, so be sure to snag your tickets online. We’ll be grabbing a glass and stopping by soon. See you there!

Free Beer…If Ya Let “The Man” Track Your Drinking!

Beer App Sioux Falls

We’re all for a free beer around here, and Sioux Falls has enough locally-brewed suds these days to keep everybody buzzing. Want one more, on the house?

All you’ve got to do is download and use the new app from Experience Sioux Falls. We haven’t tried it, but from what we can tell, if you use the app you get a monthly BOGO from most every local brewpub every month. That’s a pretty frothy deal…if you’re ok with your phone keeping tabs on your nights out. Hopefully they don”t include a “cut me off!” feature on version 2.0!

South Dakota Votes: Legalize It!

Where the green stuff grows!

Nice work guys! We never thought this was going to make it through, especially after similar bills have failed. But as they say… puff, puff, PASS!

Of course, the devil’s in the details when it comes to actually putting recreational weed sales into practice. Our prediction is that it will be nipped back on the county and city level, with distribution banned around town. Next summer, you’ll be driving out to a remote spot off the highway to pick up your edibles and baggies of kind buds. Maybe to the reservations. But someone’s going to cash in on this. It’s the American thing to do!

While we wait, pull out that box your brought back from Colorado and give Pete Tosh a spin while city council freaks out.
