The founders, as shown in the Argus Leader.

We’ve spent more great nights at the Icon Lounge than our brain cells can handle. With Covid, it looked like game-over for out favorite venue, but hope is on the way the way!

The folks from Parker’s Bistro have taken over the space, re-opening as the DaDa Gastropub. Yeah, focus is on food and cocktails right now, but shows should be coming along once, well, once live music becomes a thing again. In the meantime, grad a bite and see what they’ve done with the place!

Help Out At The Big Sioux River Greenway Cleanup!

Yeah, you don’t have to live here long to hear a few jokes about the “Big Sewer” running through town. But things ain’t as bad as they used to be, and the Big Sioux is flowing the right direction.

Be a part of the transformation Oct. 10th! The city’s getting the volunteers out to tidy up the riverbanks on what could and should one of the best parts of our little city.

No registration needed! Just get out and get a little dirty… and make some new friends too.

Concrete Skate Park Coming?

Proposed Skate Park Sioux Falls

As Biohazard once told the bouncers at a show we hit up long ago: “Get outta the way! These kids paid a lot of money to get hurt!”

And what better than a concrete half-pipe to give your shins a good dose of road-rash on a summer’s day?

As Keloland is reporting, that’s the hope of the Sioux Falls Skatepark Association. They’re looking to build-out and upgrade the local public skate park with some more permanent obstacles.

And that would be good fun for everyone. Heck, even our team might dust off the old decks and see if can still pull an ollie or two.

SD’s Festival Of Books Goes Virtual!

South Dakota Festival of Books 2020

The South Dakota Festival of Books is always an event worth checking out. Every year they bring the talent with a local twist. The problem is that it bounces around the state and only lands here in Sioux Falls every once in a while. But this year it’s been Covid’d (like everything!) and it’s going virtual.

Bummer, no doubt, but hey…problem solved!

Most everything is free, you’ve just got to register. They do have a few sessions happening at $20-a-pop, but that’s not too much to donate to a good cause.

Check out the line up here, and make a point of tuning in and getting inspired!
