Bike Trail Heads East! New Extension Announced

bike trail to Great Bear

We’ve got a great bike trail around this town. Not only is our 20ish mile loop a fun way to get some exercise on sunny day, it’s also a pretty useful way to get in and out of downtown without dodging cars and potholes.

Over the last few years, they’ve been making it even better, adding spurs to the northwest, the south, and someday… just maybe… the whole way to Brandon.

The city’s just announced that another 20 acres have been acquired along the north side of the Big Sioux. This will extend the spur that runs along the river from Falls Park past the often-odorous meatpacking plant, taking riders the whole way to Great Bear.

No one expects work to be completed for another summer or two, but that’s ok. It’s just good to know that our town keeps pedaling the right direction!
