Maria Butina – Still Workin’ It!

Butina, Guns, Navalny

Wondering where Maria Butina, Sioux Falls’ own Red Sparrow’s been hiding? Well folks, fear not. She’s still going strong.

Reports are that she’s been well-rewarded for her time infiltrating the corridor of power that was Paul Erickson, and now has a gig pushing propaganda at RT, or Russia Today, the third-tier cable news source of ill-repute.

Recently she was granted access to the gulag-bound, hunger-striking Alexi Navalny to prove that things were a-ok with Putin’s #1 assassination-surviving gadly.

“Better than hotel in small Siberian town!” she gushed at the surroundings. Heck, that might be true. We’re not heading over to do some first-hand reporting anytime soon.

Stay-tuned – we’ll be back, keeping you up-to-date on South Dakota’s favorite gun-loving redhead.

The accommodations in question… you be the judge!

Get ‘N Go Goes Spoke ‘N Sport!

spoke-n-sport get-n-go

Here’s some good news for you Sioux Falls bike-loop lovers out there: The Get ‘n Go on the corner of Cliff and 229 is turning into the next location of Spoke ‘n Sport!

Could there be a better location in town? It’s actually – literally, as the kids say – right on the bike trail, next to one of the best parking spots for out-of-town access to the trials.

What a great place to meet up for group ride, to snag a few accessories for the ride, or to have someone knowledgeable tweak that chain that just started slipping half-way ’round the trail.

Kudos to the team for thinking this one through. We’ll be stopping in soon, even if we’re a little sweaty and stinky from the ride. They’ll forgive our appearance, right?

Tre Lounge Eyes Re-Opening

Tre Lounge Re-Opening

“What’s a chislic?”

Yeah, we were those guys. New-ish to the South Dakota, we’d never heard the world before looking over the menu at the Tre Lounge on a cold ‘n stormy winter’s night.

Now, of course, we get chislic all over the town. Who can argue with little bits of deep-friend beef (or lamb, please, if you got it!) It goes great with a beer or two, and lets you pretend that you’re keeping on the right side of your low-carb diet.

So it’s heart-warming news to us that the Tre Lounge is coming back to Sioux Falls. The south-central swath of town could use a kinda-classy watering hole. It’s good to have a place where you can take a date that’s a little more convenient than downtown, and lot better than pretending that you’re having a nice night out when you’re parked at a strip mall on 41st or 57th.

Look for news on the re-opening date this summer. And, of course, a review to follow! (Hope they still have chislic.)

Falls Park Nation’s Best?

For a small town in a small state (or a big town in a wide-open state, perhaps) Sioux Falls likes to punch above its weight. And that pretty cool! You go guys!

The latest proof can be found in USA Today: The paper is doing a “10 Best” poll, and Falls Park is in the running for Best City Park. Not sure how we can beat out Portland and San Diego, but hey, it’s worth a shot. Show some home-town pride and Go Vote!

Pigeon605! New Website For Local News

Pigeon 605

We’re always up for a little competition! There’s lots of good stuff happening in Sioux Falls, and one of the best news sources over the last few years has been Siouxfalls.business, the local business blog run by Jodi Schwan.

With all the shakeups in the local news industry, Jodi moved on from the Argus Leader a few years ago to do her own thing. And she’s been great at it, getting scoops on what’s movin’ and shakin’ this city.

Now she’s got a new thing: Pigeon605.com, a sister business aimed at the softer side of life in our ‘burgh. The idea is that you can get a customized update on news-you-can-use by signing up for a “Pigeon” (like the old-timey message carrying bird) delivered to your inbox. Or of course, you can check the website the old-fashioned way.

All the best to your continued success!
