SD’s Festival Of Books Goes Virtual!

South Dakota Festival of Books 2020

The South Dakota Festival of Books is always an event worth checking out. Every year they bring the talent with a local twist. The problem is that it bounces around the state and only lands here in Sioux Falls every once in a while. But this year it’s been Covid’d (like everything!) and it’s going virtual.

Bummer, no doubt, but hey…problem solved!

Most everything is free, you’ve just got to register. They do have a few sessions happening at $20-a-pop, but that’s not too much to donate to a good cause.

Check out the line up here, and make a point of tuning in and getting inspired!

Didn’t Get to Tedx Sioux Falls? YouTube’ll Do Ya!

And it ain’t all just talkin’!

Tickets went fast, and who’s got time for this kind of thing on a workday anyway? But still, we know you woulda loved to go. I know we did.

So check out the next best thing! As Siouxfalls.business is reporting, all of the talks are up on YouTube, so you can watch all of our bright young local things on demand, with a beer in hand.

Check out the links, then pop some popcorn and learn a thing or two!

West Mall 7: Soon Serving Suds?

Nothing wrong with a cold one to accompany a good movie. And popcorn. That’s always good too!

West Mall 7 is trying again to get a beer-tapping license to let their patrons-on-a-budget enjoy a few while watching second-run films and old favorites.

The first time they applied there were some legit concerns about how they’d be policing the kegs. But now they’ve got a wrist-band plan in place that should allow them to sail through the permitting process.

We hope it goes through! Sneaking in your own gets a little old after a certain age…not that we’d know…

Country Crooner Chris Young Bows Out!

This is Chris Young…somewhere that’s not Sioux Falls.

Not sure exactly what the point of this thing was supposed to be, but Kristi Noem and T. Denny were planning a Go! South Dakota! bash at the premier center October 24th.

But looks like their big draw, country star Chris Young has decided to pull the plug on his performance. Turns out the guy takes Corona seriously, and didn’t want to be tagged a “super-seeder” by the press.

After the flack Smash Mouth got from Sturgis, we can’t blame him.

But don’t cry too much kids, we’re sure there’s plenty tear-in-my-beer bro-country coming to The Denny for years to come.
