ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons Spotted in Town!

Billy Gibbons, last-surviving bearded member of the legendary Texas boogie-rockers ZZ Top was just spotted at Guitar Center in Sioux Falls.

Why?

Well, as comedy-mastermind (and Guitar Center employee) Nate Hults tells us, “He was stopping through on his way to Sturgis. His lady wanted to stop at TJ Maxx.”

True story! Yes, even when you’re on your way to melt faces at the world’s biggest bike-rally, you gotta listen to your special lady. Remember that, gentlemen. Some things never change.

Go ZZ Top! We hope you’re kicking bass-less butt in the Black Hills. Do it for Dusty!

Indie Rockers Pinegrove Fly Our Flag!

Astute Redditor u/skoogdoo spotted the semi-official Sioux Falls flag flying proudly behind the band Pinegrove on recent YouTube video.

Pinegrove Sioux Falls Flag

Pretty cool!

We aren’t sure what’s up with that, but we plan on reaching out to them soon to find out. Pinegrove has played some great shows here, both at the old Icon, and at Total Drag. (Remember shows, kids????)

We chatted up lead singer Evan Stephens Hall at Total Drag when they were here. Funny thing. We didn’t know who we were talking to. Just thought it was a random record-loving hipster kid. Then the light went on. “Oh! It’s you!” He was cool with it, seemed to enjoy the friendly, neighborly vibe of the conversation. Man we miss shows. Especially at Total Drag.

Click Rain Snaps Up Lemonly

Click Rain Gets Lemonly

While this is a little outside of our usual beat, the Sioux Falls design industry is something we like to keep an eye on. Things have really changed around town over the last decade. Bad branding just doesn’t cut it any more, and we’ve got scores of talented designers in Sioux Falls making sure that we keep up with coasts.

Click Rain – the digital-services baby birthed by Mayor Ten Heken – has acquired Lemonly. You might not know Lemonly, but you’ve seen their info-graphic focused design our in the “real world,” with graphics whipped up for the MLB, Netflix, Disney, etc.

It sounds like a good fit – two successful local business in adjoining industries joining forces in search of that mysterious profit-churning synergy.

Here’s a page the put up with all the details.

Good luck, guys! And keep Sioux Falls looking good!

Sioux Falls Get an Upvote!

If you can’t be real famous, maybe you can be ok with being Reddit famous?

A local guy with the handle “SoDakZak” popped a pic of a B&G Milky Way sign for the r/Funny sub-reddit and it took off, earning over 70k points and 300 plus comments.

Milky Way (or B&G, depending on who you ask) keeps the cute going all summer long, with a steady rotation of goofy thoughts and “the kids say the darndest things” quotes to amuse the minivan moms and dads heading out for a wholesome weekend treat.

Nice work, SoDakZak!
